We arrived at our ministry site in Urraco Pueblo, Honduras a little over 2 weeks ago. Yes, COVID prevented us from going to Guatemala as originally planned, so we will be spending about a month and a half in Honduras. Wherever God leads, I follow. Even if it feels like a last-minute change, it is never a surprise to Him. We are living in our ministry host’s friend’s house. To call it a gift is an understatement. We sleep happily under a tin roof in surprisingly comfortable beds. We have pretty easy access to just about anything we need. In fact, we have far more than we need. The Lord’s favor is upon us.

Team Emissary is partnering with one of the town pastors to spread the gospel and to serve where needed. We serve at his church 4-5 days per week in various ways, and we serve wherever the Lord leads us the rest of the week. We are laying the foundation for a new church, clearing the foundation of an old church, leading worship during church, sharing testimonies in church, leading VBS services for the kids before church and leading youth ministry for the teens after church. We’re praying for strangers, picking up trash, learning Spanish, teaching English, cleaning out classrooms, walking the streets in prayer, attending small groups with the locals, praying over a church known for false teaching, and more. We’ve done all that and we still have 34 days for more before we head to Nicaragua. The Lord’s favor truly is upon us.

I’m learning the meaning of the phrase, “ministry is life” because it truly is. Every step we take, person we meet, kid we teach, field we clean is led by the Lord and used by the Lord. Every mosquito bite is a reminder of His love, every ant bite a reminder of His presence, every drop of sweat in this 90+ degree weather a reminder of His grace, every last-minute change a reminder of His faithfulness. When you live in the Lord, I dare say it’s nearly impossible to not serve the Lord. Truly, the Lord’s favor is upon us.

I love everything about this place. The Lord is on the MOVE. I already feel like a different person. I’m learning what it is to be a man of God. I’m walking out of shame and guilt from the past and into all that the Lord has for me. I’m leaving behind my grave clothes and putting on a new robe. He’s given me eyes to see and has stamped His promises on my heart. My team is becoming my family, and we are learning to live in unity to further the kingdom.

Thank you again for supporting me in prayer! Please continue to pray that the Lord would use every ounce of my being however He wants to. Also, I’m not great at keeping updates, but I’m doing my best. I am absolutely relying on my team for pictures because I don’t bring my phone anywhere I go. If you want more frequent updates, definitely check out their blogs! You can find them listed on the left side of my blog home page. And don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. I’ll respond whenever I have WiFi!

  6. Hola, alli en Honduras, Zac! Great to read your update and to know how the Lord is working through you, and growing you in your experiences so far. We all know that you will return to the states with more understanding and wisdom by the end of your mission, so it’s so wonderful to read that that growth is already happening in the short couple of weeks that you’ve been away. Praying for more opportunities for you to share His love; to lead others into relationship with the Lord; to enjoy the beauty of His creation no matter where you are; to grow in your walk; to make life long friendships and relationships; to supernaturally come to learn the languages of the people you serve. Praying God’s continued protection over you and your team.
    Thanks for the update!
